Situation and Environment: Final Painting

I just turned in this painting for my final project in Situation and Environment class. As with every project this semester, I was absolutely under the gun doing it, and I know it sure as heck is not perfect. But I guess it is good enough to upload for viewing here. The model is my mother. Oil on canvas, 24″x18″.15_graysm.jpg

Wonderful! Being under the gun has really paid off!

Thank you. I didn’t get a very good grade on it, unfortunately. 😦 In its defense, this photograph actually washes out the colors, especially in the face, which doesn’t look nearly as cartoony in real life as it does here.

I think this is quite engaging, the arrangement of shapes is appealing. This glimpse of normal everyday life of your mother shows a reverance of the moment.
